This is one of Sweden's largest Christmas Fairs with 200 stalls and over 20 000 visitors every year. Here you can buy local food and handicrafts made all over rural Jämtland. From Jamtli town quarter of 1895 to the Jamtli forest the exhibitors display their products and all the scents of Chirstmas is in the air.

Amundsen Race - long-distance dog-sled race

For the second year Östersund is the starting point for the
Amundsen Race – the long-distance Swedish championship for
dog-sled racing which finishes over the border in Røros,
Norway. Watching the start as around 1,000 dogs set off over
the frozen surface of Lake Storsjön racing towards the
Norwegian mountains is a tremendous spectacle. It is the only
dog-sled race in Europe to start in one country and finish in
another. The race covers approx 400 km with a mass start on
Lake Storsjön in the Winter Park.
